Safari

Going on a safari is like playing the greatest game of hide and seek ever! Armed with a sketchbook and pencil, my husband and I began a wild camping safari to southern Africa in June 2024. It turned out to be even more of an adventure than we bargained for! Back in the UK, I worked on a collection of pictures inspired by the wonderful wildlife sightings:

• 'A Dazzle of Zebras’ with their beautiful markings
• ‘Tusks Forward’ - a portrait of an elephant which was so close we could almost touch it.
• ‘The Long Reach’ - a giraffes, standing out against the horizon with their elegant long necks
• We were privileged to watch a female leopard stash her kill in a thicket, before passing in front of our vehicle to quench her thirst in a small pool - ‘Taking a Drink’

I continue to be amazed by the astonishing diversity of wildlife on our planet. I just wish we’d learn to appreciate and value it more.
